I think Decentralization is Great

I mean, especially in such an economically divided country like Ireland where the east is much more wealthy then then the west. Decentralization can promote more jobs in the west and disperse wealth evenly. However, there are a few ways through which decentralization can be accomplished:
1) The recreation of the Republic of Ireland as a federation of provinces: (a) Leinster centred in Dublin (b) Munster centred in Cork (c) Connacht centred in the New City (d) Ulster (This is a special case in which Donegal, Monaghan and Cavan would be administrated to by Connacht [as opposed to Leinster where the citizens of these counties would be marginalized by the large population], but with the name Ulster retained in addresses and for ceremonial purposes).
2. The geographic distribution of the single national government between Dublin and the new city. This can be accomplished in two ways: (a) With a few ministries located in the new city but with the Oireachtas located in Dublin. (b) With the Oireachtas divided between Dublin and the new city with the Dáil located in one city and the Seanad located in the other.
What thoughts do you have on the subject?

Fine idea, so long as you decentralise revenue collection too. Why should I subsidise your fantasy?

I'm all for regional autonomy, let the West fix it's own problems and develop it's potential. But how can anyone take this website seriously when the first image you see is a religious symbol and the "City of the Scared Heart" headline!
What is the vision, a vibrant new aspirational take on Irish living - or a religious commune/retirement home for the clergy?
I would love to see the concept of a new dynamic, forward looking city plan being developed for the West of Ireland, and believe there is economic potential for developing the hinterland of Knock Airport, but as long as you push this narrow-minded nostalgic religious gombeen image the project is doomed ridicule. Knock Airport isn't the thriving success it is today, bring in over 500,000 visitors a year, because of its proximity to Knock's religous shrine, it is because of Irelands hi-tech developing economy and the efficient management of the of the facility, combined with vision of a modern transport hub promoting the West as a location for Tourism, Industry and an attractive location for living.
This project can still speak of the common values and moral outlook of the people of the West of Ireland, but Ireland has left behind the notion of Church leading State, and is the better for it. Only when real new ideas, concepts, vision and economic theory is shown will this idea engage the minds of Government, Business and the people of the area.
